University of Jordan – School of Business Annual Conference
1. Preamble
The University of Jordan – School of Business (UJSB) is committed to upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct in research, authorship, peer review, and conference organization. This Code of Ethics applies to all individuals involved in the UJSB Annual Conference, including authors, presenters, reviewers, session chairs, conference organizers, and affiliated institutions.
The School of Business affirms the principles of academic freedom, intellectual honesty, accountability, and transparency in scholarly exchange. All participants are expected to act with integrity and to contribute to a professional, respectful, and ethically responsible academic environment.
2. Core Principles
The ethical framework of the UJSB Annual Conference is grounded in the following principles:
- Integrity: Upholding honesty in research design, data analysis, authorship, and scholarly communication.
- Objectivity: Ensuring that evaluations and decisions are based solely on academic merit and relevance.
- Transparency: Disclosing conflicts of interest, funding sources, and research limitations where applicable.
- Confidentiality: Respecting the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts, reviews, and deliberations.
- Accountability: Taking responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and ethical standards of submitted work.
- Respect: Treating all conference participants with professionalism, fairness, and collegiality.
3. Responsibilities of Authors and Presenters
- Originality and Plagiarism: Submissions must be original and not previously published or simultaneously submitted to another conference. Proper citation of sources is required. Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable.
- Authorship: All listed authors must have made significant scholarly contributions. Ghost authorship and honorary authorship are prohibited.
- Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence their work.
- Data Integrity: Data must be accurately reported. Authors should be prepared to clarify methods or results if requested by the conference committee.
- Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools: Any use of AI tools (e.g., language editing, data analysis, or content generation) must be transparently disclosed in the submission. Authors remain fully responsible for the content.
- Corrections and Withdrawals: Authors must promptly notify the conference organizers if they identify significant errors or ethical concerns in their submissions.
4. Responsibilities of Reviewers and Program Committee Members
- Fair and Objective Review: Submissions must be evaluated solely on scholarly quality, relevance, and contribution.
- Confidentiality: Submitted materials and review discussions must remain confidential.
- Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must disclose conflicts of interest and recuse themselves when impartiality cannot be ensured.
- Professional Conduct: Reviews should be constructive, respectful, and free from personal criticism.
- Timeliness: Reviewers should complete evaluations within agreed timelines or notify organizers if unable to do so.
5. Responsibilities of Conference Organizers and Chairs
- Academic Independence: Decisions regarding acceptance, scheduling, and awards must be free from external influence.
- Ethical Oversight: Organizers are responsible for addressing ethical concerns, allegations of misconduct, and procedural fairness.
- Confidential Handling of Cases: Any allegations of misconduct will be handled discreetly and fairly, following recognized best practices.
6. Conflicts of Interest
All participants in the conference process must disclose any real or perceived conflicts of interest, including but not limited to:
- Financial relationships with commercial entities
- Institutional affiliations that may bias judgment
- Close personal or professional relationships with other participants
Such disclosures must be made during submission, review, or organizational decision-making processes.
7. Research Misconduct
The University of Jordan – School of Business maintains a zero-tolerance policy for research misconduct, including:
- Plagiarism
- Data fabrication or falsification
- Unethical research practices (including lack of required ethical approval)
- Improper authorship attribution
- Abuse of the review or selection process
Allegations will be investigated confidentially and fairly. Sanctions may include rejection of submissions, removal from the conference program, reporting to relevant institutional authorities, or future participation restrictions.
8. Corrections and Program Amendments
If significant errors or ethical concerns are identified after acceptance or presentation, the conference organizers may issue corrections, amend the program, or withdraw the presentation, as appropriate, in the interest of academic integrity.
